summer of youth
It’s been 111 F out here in the sticks. Most of the day we stayed inside and painted but when it started to cool down, my mom sent the kids out to play in the yard and turned the sprinklers on. It was the perfect time of day to capture the water droplets in the late afternoon sunshine.
I love taking photos of my niece. She’s always been so contagiously happy as long as I can remember. When she smiles, you can’t help but smile back. She’s starting to turn into a tween and I hope against all hopes that she doesn’t lose her inside-out-smile. It would kill me.
I keep telling her that she can’t grow up but I don’t think she’s listening to me.
Ah, the innocence… those were the days.
So far, she’s an exceptionally great tween. I think there is every reason to hope she’ll stay this way in the years ahead. :-)
I love watching kids play in the water. I remember all those years ago when we would all do the same thing. Only Mom and Dad didn’t have a camera so there is no record of it all. Your niece is gorgeous, I am sure she will stay wonderful and sunny as she grows older, she has some great influences.
that is a happy girl :^)
I almost didn’t recognize her in that last picture! She’s not a little girl any more!
There is nothing quite like playing in the sprinkler during the hot summer days!!!
I hope she doesn’t either. She lights up!
She Likes Purple
I agree with sizzle, she just lights up. She’s lucky to have an aunt who sees that.
She is so gorgeous. I think she just keeps getting prettier and prettier!
Just reading this and seeing these pictures makes me smiley and happy.
I love her smile…I am smiling with her.
I love these pictures. I forgot how much fun a simple hose and sprinkler could be when we were younger and looking to pass the time on hot summer days. Brings back great memories!
Such beautiful photos. I remember doing the same during summer.
I tell my 11 year old niece the same thing…Please don’t grow up. Its such a beautiful age right now but I long for them to be Baby Bug’s age again.
Long Story Longer
Wait – this isn’t Rapunzel, is it? She’s so beautiful!!!!! And grown up!
