Good News! My brother is going back to work!
I’ve been wanting to post an update on my brother for ages and needed to but there was always one more test he was waiting to get the results back from so I kept putting it off. Also, I’m a bum who is always busy doing something else. But I have great news! My brother is all better and is going back to work! Can you believe it?!!!
I was going to write a post enumerating all the tests he’s taken and all the various outcomes but as I looked over the many many paragraphs just listing everything, I almost fell asleep trying to edit it so I’m going to save you the trouble of having to read all that. If you have any questions, I say just email me or cc.
We are all very happy about this outcome. So what was wrong with him? I’m not even really sure. It’s confusing but it seems that he has sleep apnea (which runs in the family—bah humbug) and GERD (which also runs in the family, we’re all doomed) and combined they can sometimes produce heart attack like symptoms. Who knew?
Not us. So after three months of not working, worrying himself sick and going to various doctors for a gazillion tests, he has been given a cpap machine so that he can get more oxygen at night. He’s been feeling great with all that extra oxygen, he’s gone back for a check up and has been officially approved to go back to work!
Who knew work would be something to celebrate over. But it is. It really is.
Yay! I’m so happy for your whole family!
Excellent! What a super-cute family!
yay!!! and love the pics :)
I’m so happy to hear that! Back to the grindstone!!! :)
I was just in a cool music store here in town and saw a sign that playing the digeridoo can help with sleep apnea. Perhaps you can give him one for Christmas. :D
such good news. glad to read that!
loved the pics!
Great news! So glad to hear he’s doing well. It’s amazing what breathing well while sleeping can do for your health.
Wonderful news – hurray for more oxygen!
Hip hip hooray!
Yay that’s great news!
What a beautiful family! I’m glad your brother has been given the green light to go back to work, Brenda!
This is really good news. The last few months must have been really tough on your family. Heart problems are so frightening. My brother-in- law had a heart attack a few months ago and now is on a series of injections to clear the blockage. Better than invasive surgery but they make him sick and he is also off work for months too.
I’m so happy he is able to get back into the swing of things. I do believe he does enjoy driving the big rig and also the teaching end of his job. I will miss having “MR. FIXI-T” around to do things Keren and I cannot do…lputting the box of garage sale items on the garage shelf to be ready for next October, lopping off the Bouganvilla that threatened to climb into our neighbor’s window and then pullijng down the wisteria that did make it into her attic.
That is such wonderful news! It is amazing how just getting a little less oxygen at nighttime can mess up your body. Let’s hope that Sean stays healthy and back at work, what a wonderful Christmas present for him.
That’s AWESOME!!! In that photo, your older niece totally looks like your brother, while the younger totally looks like your sister-in-law :)
That’s fantastic! So happy for you all. Yay Shawn!!!
That’s the greatest picture of SuperChick!

I was surprised at myself…I could still read “KO-KA-KO-RA”
I was surprised at myself…I could still read “KO-KA-KO-RA” (Coca Cola) on his shirt. I thought I had forgotten most of my Japanese.
Oh Brenda! That is FABULOUS news! I’m so happy for him, CC and the girls! :)
