What goes up must come down.

And what goes down must come up!

For a day I asked for no advice I sure got a lot of good advice. Right now Baby Bug is sitting in her exersaucer watching Sesame Street and eating cheerios. Imagine that! Before yesterday I would have been feeling guilty about just plopping her in front of the television. Before yesterday she never seemed that interested in watching Elmo. I tried to watch Sesame Street with her before but she was much more interested in crawling all over the couch and pulling the cat’s tail. Maybe being contained in her circular baby jail makes Elmo more appealing. Either way, she’s not complaining and I have a minute to punch out a quick blog post to tell you all thank you for your help. I’m also looking over at her and smiling and telling her that I’ll be “done in just two minutes.” Which I will.

And after that I will feed the baby her breakfast and then take a look at my MASTER CHORE LIST on my fridge! It’s so cool. I’m soooooo organized! It’s funny how just organizing the hamster wheel of chores makes me feel better already and I haven’t even got anything done.

So thank you internet. One of these days (when she’s like 18) I’ll get to go and read all your blogs and make nice comments to you!

I also wanted to post some pretty pictures of the beach because we had a very nice day yesterday. That’s the good thing about bad days, they are usually followed by really good days.

EDITED TO AD:

Guess what!!!! She got a tooth! This morning at about 8 something I let her drink some water from my water glass. As she was drinking I heard this, “clink, clink, clink” and I knew it was something other than gums sucking on my water glass. SHE HAS A TOOTH! So maybe that has something to do with why the day before yesterday was so difficult. Maybe she was extra grumpy and needy and maybe she wouldn’t take a nap because her tooth kept waking her up! Anyway, she’s happy now. She won’t let me see her tooth but I did feel it with my finger and it felt sharp and jaggedy.

So how many more of these things is she gonna get?

Lovely photos, very soothing sunset – before the rain comes! I’ve been thinking about how seriously I take things and my new motto is “Don’t be so serious.” That, and “I can’t control what happens, only my response [to what happens].” Those have been helping me see through the veil of anxiety I’ve been trying to break away from. Maybe there’s a motto you can come up with for yourself that will help you think a little clearer about your problemos? Also, I think I would be skinny dipping in the ocean at dawn if my beach was so quiet as yours (part of the “don’t be so serious” mantra)!!!

Tooth #2 will probably be right around the corner. Be prepared for possible massive fussiness ahead. Fun times. Baby Felix got her two bottom teeth in late August and now were waiting for the top four to come in. Two teeth looks so cute!

Yay a tooth! No fair, we’re still gummy over here :P Glad you got the good day to make up for the not so good. Baby contraptions and cheerios are called sanity over here. I’d never feel bad for using an exercauser throughout the day. Really, if you think about it, even if you are just covering the basic needs of a baby, that interaction far outweighs the amount of time spent in an exercauser. It’s very apparent that you are covering much more than Baby Bug’s basic needs, so I think you’re doing great :)

How awesome, a tooth! It probobly explains all her grumpiness. Glad you are having a good day :).

We used the Einstein videos (I know so much controversy) but J loved them and I got 20 minutes for emails once every day. At three, he still asks to watch some of them now and then but, now he can solo play while I grab 20 minutes for computer time. Right know he is a Knight in Shining armour (new costume for the tickle trunk).

That beach is beautiful! And to enjoy it with BB (likewise, beautiful!), what a treat. I’m glad you figured out her grumpiness was teeth related. Now you have one more thing to check out next time she’s grumpy, ie, tired? hungry? wet? teeth?

Heidi and I love the pic of you with your hair framing BB’s face.

Yay! I’m glad you’re feeling better. And hooray for BB’s first tooth!

Oh, and the answer to your question? 19. :-)

Those photos are SO gorgeous…you just know they’re going to end up on some jerk’s MySpace page. :-) And Bug looks like she is having such a good time on the beach. Any minute now she’s gonna get up and start running right for the ocean. She’s a smartie, that one.

Yippee on the tooth. It goes on for a long time. My kids are STILL losing teeth at 14.
    Yikes!

Soon you will need the tooth fairies phone number. All moms need it to reschedule a missed appointment. Oh, the stories we tell to get through the day.
I just counted 24 teeth in my kids mouth- only 23 more to go.

I’m glad everything’s better. I have always got the impression that you are an excellent mama (and cool to boot) and that BB always seems quite happy and content. You’re doing a great job.

  • Gretchen

Yea for the master chore list!

One thing, don’t get yourself down if everything doesn’t get done. Sooner or later it will…

    You’re doing great!

    20 teeth… I think…

Do NOT feel guilty about anything! You have to do what works for you. I used to bring the exersaucer into the bathroom, put my son in it and take a shower. I would just sing to him the whole time and keep poking my head out to check on him.

You do what you can to keep your sanity and at least get the basics done.

Yay first tooth! For ending baby fussiness I use Laurie Berkner’s newest DVD. Riley goes nuts for this and will watch and clap during the whole thing, about a half an hour. She’s 11 months old.
