gumball production

Guess what? I LOVE iron on heat transfer paper. It’s like a whole new medium to me. I can make anything and iron it on fabric and then sew it into a pillow!!! ANYTHING! The possibilities are endless. Toby was not that impressed but I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread. My art! On fabric! Nothing can stop me now.

Sewing up the little gumball kitty pillows is not quite as fun as the instant gratification of the iron and peel process. I’m not as deft on the sewing machine as I’d like to be and my “circle” pillows morphed into the usual lumpy lopsided puffs. It’s okay though, I think they still look cute.

Baby Bug agrees with me. They have officially been tested and approved by a baby. I don’t know if the heat transfer gum is toxic but Baby Bug slobbered on hers and she seems to be fine.

After a full morning of pink kitty production, Baby Bug and I decided we needed a little break. We went for a walk to Starbucks and the beach. It was cold and windy. The wind blew the sand into little miniature dunes. We only stayed long enough to enjoy our lemon loaf and then we hustled back home as fast as we could. I try and keep Baby Bug’s hands covered in my jacket but she likes to be free. When we get home her little fingers are icicles.

Toby says tonight and last night are probably the coldest of the year. I believe him. And of course these are the nights our heater refuses to work. Sigh. You know what that means, a dreaded conversation with the landlord. Ick.

I hate to end a post on that note though… so think about fun pink asterisk butt pillows instead! Maybe I can snuggle my feet into the big bag of pillow stuffing. Or maybe I should just go to bed. I wanted to stay up and sew but as usual, as the clock nears nine-ish I start to feel less and less productive.

I am so in awe of you! Every time I come back you’ve gone one better… waiting for the next installment with impatience now!

I’ve a one month old daughter, if I get started now, I might have something half as good done for her birthday!

I think they’re darling. I also think jingle bells are much better than squeakers. My little girl can never get them to squeak on her own and gets frustrated. Baby Bug is the cutest-dressed Bug on the coast. Love the shoes.

The pillows are very cool. But, as a beach lover, I am super jealous that you can take daily WALKS to the beach. That in itself makes me envy you! :)

Delurking to say that the asterisk butt pillows are probably the cutest thing I have ever seen!

And, I love pink too! (um, my blog’s name is Rhi in Pink, so, yeah)

Baby Bug’s party is going to be so cute! I can’t wait to see the final result.

“… the asterisk butt pillows are probably the cutest thing I have ever seen!”

I agree 100% with Rhi!! And also, you must spend alot of your time washing sand out of Baby Bug’s clothes. And out of Baby Bug for that matter! I always love the beach pictures. :)

Gumball is very cute. Did you clip the seam before you turned the circle right side out? Clips every quarter inch should eliminate most of the puckering. jP

This project is gettin more and more fun by the minute. Very cool. I love BB’s shoes. I’ve been avoiding the online shoe store because I’m afraid of getting in over my head with cute baby shoes. Sorry about the heater. I hate calling the property manager about anything that goes wrong with our home also. Luckily the landlord is about 2 hours away though :) I hope you guys were able to keep warm.

Brrr.. as much as you were cold on the beach, it still looks warm to me. We have a ‘winter storm warning’ for tonight. The first of the season, so hopefully J will have lots of snow to play with tomorrow.

Your pillows R.O.C.K. You are inspiring me so much, if I didn’t feel like a bag of dirt, I would probobly be up at my sewing machine right now. In time. I am sure all the little guests will love their favours :).

Oh gawd, you inspired me in the best way. I’ve been making things with t-shirt transfers for years but the whole stuffed thing escaped me. So today i took a photo of my goddaughter’s face and got clothes online from catalogues and I made a Frances Doll. Front and back! with accessories! a kitty. a guitar. a tutu. a purse. broccoli. oh and with velcro! so the accessories attach.

It rocked my world. maybe i’ll even send you a picture! oh god, i’m pathetic. but it really is the Best Gift Ever.

I totally understand the no-heater thing. The low around here was 24 last night. Except we ARE the landlords, unfortunately, so complaints just put everyone in a bad mood. =)
